On the 13th October 2016, we teamed up with European Forum Against Blindness (EFAB) and the European Coalition for Vision (ECV) to raise awareness about preventable sight loss. Collectively we spread a simple message across social media leveraging the #WorldSightDay – ‘We need to talk about eyes!’
By printing posters with custom or pre-printed messages our members were able to take selfies and spread awareness of how vision loss and blindness require the immediate attention of national and European policymakers. As Europeans are living longer we need improved mechanisms for screening and identifying eye diseases early. The campaign around #WorldSightDay was designed to increase awareness of these issues.
As advocating with one collective voice is central to making eye health a priority for national governments and on a European level we were proud to team up with our partners in EFAB and ECV in order to improve vision awareness among the general population.
