VISION
STATEMENT

The European Alliance for Vision Research and ophthalmology is to support its members in their efforts to promote eye health at national and EU level, grow the network of the ophthalmology community at EU level and be their collective voice at all levels of government at national and EU level (EU institutions, bodies and agencies).

The European Alliance for Vision Research and Ophthalmology (EU EYE) acts as the coordinated European representative of ophthalmology and vision research in matters of EU health, research, and regulatory policy.

EU EYE’s vision is that eye health and vision research are fully integrated into European public health, research, and innovation strategies, recognising vision as a determinant of health, social inclusion, productivity, and sustainability of healthcare systems.

EU EYE supports its member organisations by:

Contributing

Contributing scientific, clinical, and technical expertise to EU policymaking

Facilitating

Facilitating evidence-based dialogue between the ophthalmology community and EU institutions, bodies and agencies

Promoting

Promoting patient-centred, sustainable, and equitable access to prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of eye diseases across Europe

Strengthening

Strengthening coordination among European ophthalmology stakeholders to ensure coherent and effective advocacy

EU EYE operates in accordance with principles of transparency, proportionality, independence, and ethical engagement, and contributes constructively to the EU legislative and regulatory process in the public interest.
